About Us
The Pine Near is a small, unique, private and modern park one block above Winthrop and the North Cascade Loop. Established in 1972, modernized in 2012 by local new owners. The Pine Near has 48 years of happy overnighters. Our intimate setting lends itself towards neighbors gathering if they choose or enjoying some peace if they'd rather. Many lasting friendships have been formed at the Pine Near. We look forward to seeing you soon! Our History
Back in the day, the Pine Near was a cow pasture. The Tom Graves (a cowboy and a character) family owned it and lived next to the pasture. The Johnson Family purchased it in approximately 1972 and hatched the plan to turn it into an RV and mobile Home park just in time for the North Cross (St Rt 20 - North Cascades Highway) to open in 1974. They used "slave labor" from their boys and their buddies to pick rocks (and I mean A LOT of rocks) to enhance the park. The boys assisted in hauling logs out of the hills with horses and then hand hewed the logs to build the log cabin office that you see today. Look carefully and you will see their name in the chinking inside. The Johnsons' three year old daughter asked if they could name the park "Pine Near" so her momma used a play on words and designed the pioneer wagon signs that we still use today. Years later, Mr. Don Johnson (once Mayor of Winthrop) sold the park to the Moe Family and built the retirement house where we live now. The Moe family sold the park to us, the Kominak Family, in 2010. We did (and are still doing) an extensive resurrection and redesign of the park. What Our Guests Say
We love our RV and take it everywhere. When it is as cold as the Methow valley having power is critical. Pine Near RV is centrally located and deals with the conditions well. Anna, the owner, is attentive and friendly. You can walk to town and there are warm, clean bathrooms and showers if you need that. We’ve visited three times over the years and are always happy.Doc
Owner's father helped us by driving for me to follow when we checked in, since it was very dark out. Very helpful, friendly. The place has obviously had some recent renovations. Definitely glad we stayed here. Walking distance to town for dinner after a long hike.Randy W
Absolutely love it here! Staff are super friendly, very convenient location, reasonable price for full hookup, quiet, clean, spacious, lots of green grass and shaded trees. Coin operated showers and laundry facility, free wifi.Amanda B
We have been staying at Pine Near RV Park since 2015. Each year there are more improvements to the site. The owners take a lot of pride in taking care of Pine Near. The sites are large and quiet. It's also within a short walk to restaurants and shops. It's also a short drive to lots of hiking and gorgeous scenery. We will return!Andrea F
The Pine Near is within walking distance of downtown Winthrop. Clean, well kept park. Clean showers and restrooms. Nice laundry facilities. Quiet, not too crowded. We have stayed one other time here and would definitely stay again.Carolyn L
We stayed in one of the Pine Near RV Campground cabins. The cabin was very clean and the bed was excellent. We both got wonderful sleep and rest. The campground was very quiet and the whole campground was spotless. We did not use it but they have a new modern laundry building. We will surely stay there on our next visit. Gary P
